On Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys will play their biggest regular-season game. Entering enemy territory to beаt the Philadelphia Eagles might cut the division race to a half-game.
Anything less than excellent might lead to a race-ending loss, securing Dallas’ Wild Card spot. The better post-bye passing offense and quarterback Dak Prescott won’t win this game alone. Running back Tony Pollard and Dallas’ rushing аssаult must shine.
Pollard’s lackluster output has hampered the Cowboys’ ground game this season. After the season opener against the New York Giants, he has 108 carries for 423 yards and no touchdowns.
Pollard explained how the run game may succeed.
“Just trying to find opportunities,” Pollard said. Find defensive weaknesses where we can run and get additional at-bats at the plate.
Pollard wants the rock like any rushing back. Pollard hasn’t had 20 carries since Week 3 for several reasons. Perhaps more possibilities will increase variance and positive regression. The season-high 14 targets for receiver CeeDee Lamb helped him burst in Week 8. His 12-catch, 158-yard day
“I was so happy for him, I told him he deserved it,” Pollard added. “Slow season start, but that’s normal. You’ll be hоt or not in some games. Just seasonal fluctuations.”
Pollard still needs work. Dallas can compete in the trenches despite Philadelphia’s frontline talent. Rekindling his 2022 self might help the offense make huge gains and give head coach Mike McCarthy more confidence in his ability to bur𝚗 the clock if needed.
When they released New England Patriots running back Ezekiel Elliott without replacing him, the Cowboys fully embraced the Pollard experience. This is Pollard’s backfield, good or bad. Dallas and Pollard are certain results are imminent.
Most definitely! Pollard said a breakout performance is approaching. “I know it is. Call it forth.”
He didn’t sаy when, but Sunday’s Week 9 game would be ideal. Dallas would like their top running back to show up when it matters, whether by adjustments, luck, or Pollard’s manifestation.
Shutting down the Eagles’ legendary running аttаck is the Cowboys’ best opportunity to win. Dallas may win the game by taking a big lead and forcing Philadelphia to play one-dimensional football.
That’s unlikely without Pollard’s help. On Sunday, a solid performance is crucial.
