Cowboys’ Micah Parsons Challenges CeeDee Lamb to Out-Earn Justin Jefferson

10 Things Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson Can't Live Without

In a noteworthy return to the Dallas Cowboys’ offseason activities, star linebacker Micah Parsons took the opportunity to send a clear message to the front office about teammate CeeDee Lamb’s contract situation.

This marks the first time this offseason that Parsons has joined his teammates on the field, participating in the first mandatory minicamp day on Tuesday after opting to work out independently during the voluntary portion of the offseason.

Parsons reassured fans and media alike that his absence wouldn’t affect team chemistry or his leadership capabilities.

“I would say, ‘Ever watch Remember the Titans?'” Parsons remarked.

“We’re going to be in Oxnard a very, very long time. There’s going to be a lot of chemistry in that building.”

The defensive stalwart downplayed the importance of early offseason practices, emphasizing that true chemistry is built during the more intensive periods of training camp.

“Like it’s hard to really teach someone without pads or true contact or hand points. It’s just not realistic when you can’t even touch (someone) or we’re going to lose a draft pick,” he explained.

“Right now it’s more technique. It’s a lot of walkthroughs … So from my position, where I’m at, it’s a lot of individual and I can do individual by myself or with my trainer.”

A major point of discussion in the building was CeeDee Lamb’s holdout from both voluntary OTAs and the current mandatory minicamp.

Parsons, a three-time Pro Bowler, voiced strong support for Lamb, predicting a significant contract extension for the wide receiver.

“CeeDee about to hit the brinks truck. He about to get his,” Parsons stated.

“But I can’t think of someone more deserving. I think CeeDee is the best receiver in the league. If you ever want to argue it, top three. But in my eyes, seeing his mindset and how he comes every day, I think he deserves every penny.”

According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, Parsons was heard saying off camera “If I’m his agent, CeeDee is getting $36 (million per year).”

Lamb’s absence has financial implications, potentially costing him over $100,000 for missing mandatory activities.

However, the 2023 season’s performance supports Parsons’ high praise, with Lamb leading the league in receptions (135) and totaling 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Contract projections suggest Lamb could secure a four-year, $136 million extension, following in the footsteps of Justin Jefferson’s historic deal.
