Dak Prescott has long been dogged by a case of alleged sexual assault against him. Now, that episode of his life is over.

Per CBS News Texas, a judge on Wednesday officially threw out the case against the Dallas Cowboys quarterback due to lack of merit. The case had been filed by Victoria Shores, who claimed to have been assaulted by Prescott in 2017 and allegedly requested $100 million in exchange for not pressing charges.

The case had been initially dropped without prejudice, meaning that it could be refiled in the future. Police dropped their investigation in May and confirmed that he would not be charged with anything.

Speaking to the media, Dak Prescott’s lawyer Levi McCathern said:

“To have the validation of now not just the police departments that have investigated it but also the court in Judge Tucker is very validating to him. So, we’re happy to announce there’s no more charges against him, we’re happy that the court did what they did today.

“Despite Ms. Shores and her legal team’s relentless efforts to extort money and damage Dak’s reputation, justice has consistently prevailed and will continue to do so.”

Details of sexual assault case against Cowboys QB Dak Prescott

This saga purportedly began on February 2, 2017, at the parking lot of XTC Cabaret, a strip club along the Stemmons Freeway.

According to Victoria Shores, she had just finished her shift when Dak Prescott, two members of his “entourage”, and some other women invited her to go to a property in Plano. Along the way, he allegedly exposed himself to her and attempted to seduce her. When she resisted his advances, he “used physical force and sexually assaulted her”, according to her lawyer.

The incident, however, did not become a legal matter until this March, when a suit was filed. Prescott denied that the events happened, claiming via his own lawyer that she had made up the allegations to extort $100 million out of him.

In April, Shores agreed to drop her lawsuit. Dak Prescott’s lawyer Levi McCathern said:

“As we have said from the beginning – the ridiculous claims [the plaintiff] and her team came up with are completely false and criminal. In Texas, it’s against the law to shake down someone for any amount of money – and this is just that – a shake down.

“Dak has nothing to hide – he did nothing wrong. He has and will continue to fully cooperate with any investigation, knowing the truth is on his side.”

The saga is not over, though. According to McCathern, there will still be a hearing on September 13 to determine whether his client would be compensated for the dismissal of the suit.
