Did Words Cost Him a Spot? Bills Scratch Miller Following Domestic Violence Remarks

Von Miller will not play for the Buffalo Bills on Sunday with the linebacker a healthy scratch amid allegations of domestic violence.

The Bills announced Miller will be inactive against the New England Patriots, despite having no injury designation on the team’s final report.

Miller was all smiles as he was pictured arriving in Orchard Park on Sunday but he will not be suiting up.

It comes after Miller adamantly denied accusations of domestic violence and claims he attacked his pregnant girlfriend earlier this week.

Speaking to media on Thursday, Miller said: ‘All of it is incorrect. All of it is untrue.

Miller turned himself in on November 30 after being wanted for a felony charge of assault

‘Never in any of my relationships that I’ve been in, never in my current relationship with my girlfriend, did any of those things happen. It is 100 per cent false. It’s overblown.’

Miller turned himself into police in suburban Dallas on November 30.

He indicated something happened between him and his girlfriend, but stressed it did not approach what he is alleged of doing.

‘It was a crazy day,’ Miller said, noting there are details of what happened that he can’t reveal because the matter is still under investigation.

‘Whatever happened, I hate that it happened. I hate my name is attached to anything like that, and it’s just a matter of time until I can clear it up.

‘Me and my girlfriend, we have problems just like any other couple does, but there has never been any of those things that was alleged against me.’

Miller said it was important for him to speak out after nearly a month of silence in a bid to clear his name.

‘All of it is incorrect,’ he said. ‘You know, it’s not a funny situation, but all of it is incorrect and all of it is untrue. The only thing that is true is we do have a third son on the way.’

The 34-year-old Miller faces a charge of third-degree felony assault of a pregnant woman, which is punishable by two to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. He is free after posting a $5,000 bond.

The woman and Miller have been in a relationship for seven years.

Miller said the allegations are 'incorrect and untrue' and that 'it is not a funny situation'

Miller’s case is not listed in Dallas County’s online court records system and an employee of the district clerk’s office said it has yet to be assigned to a judge.

According to a police affidavit which officers wrote, Miller twice put his hands on the neck of the woman, pulled out a chunk of her hair and threw her onto a couch.

The woman was treated for minor injuries, including bruising on her neck, police said.

The NFL had no update on its investigation, while the league is also following all legal developments. The Bills are following the the NFL’s lead in allowing Miller to continue playing because no charges have been filed.

In a text message obtained by WFAA from Miller’s partner, she downplayed the incident and said the fallout was ‘insane and sad’.

‘We’re fine… things were blown way out of context. This is actually outrageous.’

However, recording of the 911 call in the moments after Miller had left the apartment begin with the operator asking if a paramedic is needed, with Miller’s girlfriend unsure.

‘Uh, I don’t know, he pulled my hair out,’ she said. ‘I have like, some blood on me but not like… yeah, I don’t know.’

‘He just stormed out,’ she adds, when asked by the operator if Miller is in the residence.
